Wickwar Out of School Club Reduced Capacity from September 2020 Updated 20th July 2020 (for full details of the most recent communication click here)

We are continuing to plan for the club’s reopening from Monday 7th September 2020.

There will be reduced capacity available in the short term, so in order to try and support as many parents as possible, we ask that you carefully consider which sessions you need for Term 1 and reduce them if you can.

In order to maintain safety standards, school bubbles and manage staggered school start/end times, WOOSC have made the following decisions in the short term:

· For the time being, the maximum number of places available per session at Wickwar out of School Club (morning or afternoon), will be twenty five. This will be reviewed on a termly basis and additional REGULAR sessions made available when possible according to the established waiting list.

· WOOSC have arranged a temporary adjustment of our opening times so we will be able to accommodate AHS’ staggered start and finish times from 7th September 2020. We are still finalising how this will work in practice and will communicate the arrangements to parents separately.

· CASUAL sessions will not be available until further notice.

· WOOSC will not be able to accommodate Specialist booking profiles e.g. alternate week bookings for the foreseeable future. Sessions booked will need to be attended weekly.

· Session attendance will be monitored each week due to demand. In the event of multiple ‘No-Shows’, WOOSC reserves the right to withdraw a child’s place and offer it to the next family on the waiting list. WOOSC will inform parents before withdrawing the session. A ‘No Show’ is defined as where a child does not attend a permanent booked session and no contact is made in advance of the session start.

if you are able to reduce your requested sessions for Term 1, please contact woosc@hotmail.co.uk with your amended requirements by Sunday 26th July 2020. Wickwar Out of School Club regret that where we cannot reduce the requirements through volunteers, we will have to revert to a first come first served basis based on the registration form date as per our published admissions policy. In that event, please be aware that families who returned forms after 6th March 2020 are unlikely to secure all their required sessions and will be added to our waiting list for places. Emma James will write to parents from 27th July 2020 to confirm their session allocation for Term 1 2020/21 and all parents will receive written confirmation via email by 3rd August 2020.

Yours sincerely,

Jim Long

Chairman, Wickwar Out of School Club

Our Aims

- To provide fun, quality, affordable out of school childcare in a safe caring environment for children in full time primary education.

About the Club

Wickwar Out of School Club (WOOSC) is based on the site of Alexander Hosea Primary School (AHPS) and was opened in 1998. We are registered with Ofsted to care for up to 40 children before and after school and during the school holidays.

Click here to view a copy of our Club Handbook.

Please be aware that in extreme weather conditions where travelling could be hazardous or AHPS is closed, WOOSC will not open.

The majority of our children attend sessions regularly, however adhoc (Casual) sessions may be available and is dependent on the number of children attending any one session.

Children attending AHPS who use the before or after school clubs are taken to the school playground at 8.50am for the start of their school day and are collected directly from AHPS at 3.30pm when school finishes.  We also collect the infant children when attending school enrichment clubs.

For the users of the After School Sessions, drinks are always available and nutritious snacks are provided.

We are a non-profit making organisation run by a Voluntary Management Committee. The Committee is made up of parents and carers who are elected at the club’s Annual General Meeting and are responsible for the policy and practice of the club, charges and staff employment.

We are registered to use the Olive Pollard Community Room plus have access to the school hall, music room, the infant play area and the large playing field of AHPS.

All managerial staff have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check where appropriate and relevant childcare qualifications.
